Who is the Oak Tree Village summer program designed for?

Our summer program is specifically geared toward active 4, 5, and 6-year-olds. It is the perfect academic and social bridge for children entering Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Kindergarten, or Grade 1 in the fall.

How do you teach math and reading through "shops"?

This is our MAE (Meaningful Assessment-ready Experiences) curriculum in action! Instead of flashcards, children learn sight words by reading menu items or store signs. They learn to count by 10s by bundling pretend carrots at the Farmers Market or counting flowers in groups. Because they are physically interacting with the concepts, they understand and remember them much better.

Can we enroll for just a portion of the summer, or is it a full 12-week commitment?

Since our program runs as a continuous, full-year learning ecosystem, our 12-week summer themes flow naturally within our regular enrollment. This ensures children maintain a consistent routine, deep friendships, and stable learning habits all summer long.

How will I know if my child is hitting the summer reading and math goals?

Through daily in-person catch-ups at pickup and regular digital updates on the Brightwheel app, we keep you fully connected to your child's journey. Our teachers gently track milestones within the natural flow of play, so you’ll get clear insights into their progress with letters, numbers, and sight words.

Oak Tree Village Summer Program

At Oak Tree Learning Center, we believe summer should be filled with wonder, imagination, and active learning. Welcome to Oak Tree Village - a specialized 12-week summer program designed specifically for 4, 5, and 6-year-olds.

Instead of sitting at desks practicing worksheets, our young villagers will learn by stepping into the roles of shopkeepers, chefs, and community helpers. Within our safe and supportive "Healthy Learning Ecosystem," we turn everyday play into a powerful launchpad for school success. We give your child the emotional roots to feel confident trying new things and the academic branches to walk into their next grade ahead of the curve!

By the end of our 12-week summer adventure, our young learners will master:

The Alphabet Express: Confidently recognizing and naming all 26 letters of the alphabet.

Explore the Four Neighborhoods of Oak Tree Village

Our 12-week summer curriculum is split into four exciting themes. For each one, our classrooms will transform into a brand-new part of the village, where hands-on academics come to life.

1. The Farmer’s Market

From the "soil" to the stall, kids manage a bustling community market.

Learning by Doing: Children will set up their own market stalls, sort pretend fruits and vegetables, and practice counting inventory.
The Academic Twist: We use the market to practice measuring, weighing, and grouping items by 10s, while using market signs to read and write new sight words.

2. The Flower Shop

Science, math, and art bloom together in this colorful neighborhood.

Learning by Doing: Classrooms turn into vibrant botanical shops where children discover how plants grow, sort flowers by shape and color, and assemble beautiful pretend bouquets.
The Academic Twist: We practice letter recognition by labeling different types of flowers and use math to "ring up" floral orders up to number 20.

3. The Pet Shop

Empathy and language development take center stage as children learn to care for our furry and feathered friends.

Learning by Doing: Children role-play as veterinarians and pet store owners, designing habitats, matching pretend pets to their proper food, and learning about animal care.
The Academic Twist: Reading stories about animals builds deep vocabulary and introduces our weekly sight words, while simple pet-themed games make counting and number recognition a joy.

4. The Restaurant

We wrap up the summer with the ultimate teamwork and math experience!

Learning by Doing: From designing menus and taking orders to "cooking" and serving pretend meals, children explore what it takes to run a bustling neighborhood eatery.
The Academic Twist: Reading menus and writing order tickets rapidly builds literacy skills. Meanwhile, counting out ingredients and managing the cash register brings number identification and counting by 10s to life in a real-world way.
